One-to-one overlocking lessons are now available at the Stitching Time Retail at the Battlesbridge Antique and Craft Centre, SS11 7RF
£45 each or £35 each for two friends together.
Choose from 10.30-12.30 or 2.30-4.30 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday
This is a 4 week course which will teach you everything your overlocker can do.
If you've only used your overlocker for neatening edges this course is for you.
LESSON 1 • Threading, tensions, needles, stitch length, differential feed, turning corners
LESSON 2 • V-neck band, gathers, attaching lace, tucks and flatlock stiching
LESSON 3 • Rouleau, attaching elastic, casings and decorative trims
LESSON 4• Rolled hems, lettuce hem, pintucks, servicing your machine
You will learn how to thread your overlocker easily and quickly without any more tears or frustration and each week you'll learn several new techniques which will make you wonder how you managed without it before. You'll learn how to use wooly nylon threads, adjust tensions, trouble shoot problems, handle tricky fabrics, sew seams, attach trims, make rolled hems, create picot and wave stitch and much, much more.
You will need your own overlocker but all other materials, worksheets, calico and fancy fabrics will be provided along with tea, coffee and biscuits.
